Looting for water is the basic and most time consuming method for keeping a high hydration level in 7 Days to Die. Looting for basic needs not only consumes your time, but also places you in risk of being attacked from zombies and other players. Crafting your own water and special beverages is key to long term survival and can help not only with hydration, but increase your stamina and allow you to cover more area in less time.
In This Guide:
Note: 7 Days to Die is currently available for early access during their Alpha Testing. This is not a complete product, and future versions could include changes that effect the information in this article. This guide was written based on Version 9.3, but will be updated as new versions are released.
Methods For Crafting Beverages
Most beverages are crafted by cooking the needed ingredients in a campfire. However, Bottled Murky Water and Yucca Juice to not require a campfire in order to be created. They are instead crafted in the crafting interface, similar to the manner that non-consumable items are made.
Bottled Murky Water
There are two methods for crafting Bottled Murky Water. Each method produces the same results and requires the use of an empty jar. Empty jars are common loot, but can only be stacked in groups of 15. It is more efficient to forge empty jars using crushed sand, which can be created from sand or sandstone.
Bottled murky water will slightly increase your stamina and hydration. However, it will decrease your wellness and give a 50% chance of Dysentery. It should only be consumed in cases of emergency, but otherwise used to cook bottled water.
Fill Empty Jar at Water Source
This is the method I prefer to use, due to not needing to travel to collect snow. I will use a bucket to relocate a water supply closer to my Campfire. This will allow me to cook the bottled murky water right after creating it.
Using Snow
You can craft water using snow through your crafting interface. The recipe is under the food/beverage category, and asks for one snow and one empty jar. I will only use this method if I have a base or campfire located in a snow covered area.
Cooking 1 Bottled Water
Bottled Water
Bottled water can be consumed in order to increase your stamina and hydration. It is also used to cook several foods, make beverages, and craft other items. Having a large supply of bottled water is essential for long term survival in 7 Days to Die.
Cooking 1 Serving of Coffee
Coffee
Coffee is by far my favorite beverage in 7 Days to Die. It only increases your hydration by 10, but gives a special effect called a Caffeine Buzz. This buff will double your stamina regeneration, adding 2 stamina every second. This will allow you to sprint for the entire 180 second duration of the buff. I will often use this to travel long distances or to help train zombies at night.
In order to cook coffee, you will need to have bottled water and coffee beans. Coffee beans are often found in kitchen, garbage, and sink loot. However, it is difficult to find enough beans for extensive use. If you plan on using coffee on a regular basis, then it would be ideal to farm coffee beans. Each bean can be used as a seed and will produce two coffee beans. The small payout is worth the time in the long run, as you will eventually be able to produce more coffee beans than you can use.
Cooking 1 Jar of Golden Rod Tea
Golden Rod Tea
Golden Rod Tea is the other beverage that I try to carry on me at all times. It will not allow me to sprint for the same duration as coffee, but gives a higher increase to hydration than any other beverage currently in the game. It is also the only consumable that will remove the effect of Dysentery, which will come in handy if you took too many chances drinking bottled murky water.
You must have a Goldenrod Flower in order to cook Golden Rod Tea. Unlike the cotton needed for creating clothing, we are currently unable to farm Goldenrod Flowersbut. However, they are abundant in green areas that have fertile soil. They have a distinct yellow color that makes them stand out in the background. I am often able to collect more than enough by picking them on my travels without altering my course.
Cooking 1 Jar of Grain Alcohol
Grain Alcohol
I don't suggest consuming Grain Alcohol as a beverage. It will slightly increase your stamina, but will decrease your hydration and wellness. While not a good beverage, Grain Alcohol is necessary to craft the First Aid Kit and Gas Can. The Gas Can can also be crafted from Oil Barrels, but this method is limited by the amount of oil barrels looted.
In order to cook Grain Alcohol, you will need to have Corn Meal. Corn Meal can be crafted from Corn, which can be farmed. Corn plants take longer than most to grow, but give a high yield. You will often be able to grow more corn than you can use, this is often the case when using corn to produce a product with a high cook time, like Grain Alcohol.

Crafting 1 Serving of Yucca Juice
Yucca Juice
Yucca Juice is one of the few beverages that is crafted instead of cooked. It has the benefit of allowing you to keep using the same jars, since this recipe requires an empty jar instead of bottled water.
Yucca Juice adds slightly less stamina than Golden Rod Tea and half the hydration. Unlike the tea, Yucca Juice also adds a small amount of fullness. This is a great alternative to water when you are in the desert or just away from your campfire.
Yucca Juice requires a Yucca Plant, which is found only in the desert. It looks similar to the Aloe Plant, but has a darker color. You can stack 64 Yucca Plants in one spot, but can only stack 15 jars of Yucca Juice.
Jar of Honey
A jar of honey is only available by looting the dead body of a Hornet or a Hive. It can not be cooked or crafted. Due to its nature, it can be considered a food, but has many attributes similar to beverages. It comes in a jar, has a similar drinking animation, and adds to a players hydration and Stamina. Unlike other beverages, it can only be stacked in groups of 10.
Honey adds the same amount of Stamina that you receive from Golden Rod Tea, but it gives a fraction of the hydration and 10 Fullness. This beverage could be an acceptable alternative to carrying coffee, but is often harder to collect enough to make this a long term replacement. Hornets are often found by entering large cities or near their hives.
What You Need to Know
No comments yet.
The open world survivor horror video game “7 Days To Die” has a new update rolling out today in the form of 1.04 for the Xbox One and PS4. The update fixes lots of crashes from the previous 1.03 update like the disconnection issue and sound effects issues with rain and thunder, while introducing a lot more bugs. According to a user on Reddit, the Xbox One version of the game has a bug that hampers a player’s ability to see other players and interact with the surroundings. You can check out the full list of patch notes below.

Fixed an issue where the layout of the D-Pad controls was inconsistent across items. The controls will now generally go as follows:
You can download the title, which is still currently in Alpha, from here.
A 7 Days to Die Dedicated Server is used for playing with multiple people in the same world. Servers can be hosted by yourself, as well as by a company.Servers used to only allow up to 4 people, but that was changed as of Alpha 1.1 Official site
Dedicated serverInstallation
![]() Serverconfig.xml
This is a table of the up-to-date Alpha 14.6 serverconfig.xml file that comes with 7 Days to Die.
Only change the data in the 'value=' part of the file, otherwise it will not work.
† Animals don't consume as much CPU as zombies. NOTE:That this doesn't cause more animals to spawn arbitrarily: The biome spawning system only spawns a certain number of animals in a given area, but if you have lots of players that are all spread out then you may be hitting the limit and can increase it.
Starting the Server
To host a server just edit the startdedicated.bat file and the serverconfig.xml using TextPad or notepad++. You shouldn't need to edit the startdedicated.bat. In the batch file you will see the following text:
startdedicated.bat
Firewall Ports
You will need to open the following ports on your PC's firewall in order for people to be able to see and connect to your server.
TCP
UDP
Port Forwarding
If you are behind a router, you will need to tell your router that an incoming connection is meant for your server. This is called forwarding a port. You will need to port forward ports 26900-26902 so that others may join.
If router support UPnP - you can use this http://upnp-portmapper.sourceforge.net/
Don't know how to port forward? follow these instructions:
If you have completed these steps correctly, your friends should now be able to join.
Finding your own External IP
To find the IP which your friends need to use go to this Site. There you will find your External IP. Send it to your friends and they should be able to join if you have already finished Port Forwarding (steps above) your router.
Looking for servers
If you are looking for a server to play on, you can find one on the current top servers list for 7 Days To Die here 7daystodie-servers.com or use the server browser on your game client.
Example:Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:
Where mine says 192.168.1.100 that's the IP your server has.
Renting a server
There are several companies/websites that allow you to rent a server from them. This rented server will reside in a datacenter and hosted by them.
Note that these titles do not have to be located within the kingdom the character intends to found or.
These servers are mostly 24/7 servers. This is useful because you won't need to keep your computer running 24/7. You can rent servers to many different specifications, some may not be powerful enough to host a server. Generally, network connections at a datacenter far exceed what is available to residential ISPs, which will cut down on latency that you might experience hosting at home.
You can use a Server Manager to setup and manage the server, such as the Cloud-based Server Manager (CBSM) for 7 Days to Die.
